I
n april the seatrouts come to shallow water to eat small fishes like , but in their menu there is other animals, too. When You open a fish You can find in the stomach Crustaceans like Gammarus and marine worms like Nereis diversicolor.

Most common flies used in the seatrout fishing in Finland are streamers. Super Tinsel and its variations are now very popular. In Denmark, where fishing seatrouts in saltwater is a long time culture, the flies fished with are more variable. Wooly Bugger-style flies are in the basic collection of danish seatrout flies. Randall Kauffmann´s Stimulator flies: Peacock and Brown plus Bill Beardley´s Blood Sucker are flies worth of serving to finnish seatrouts, too.

Fishing in the Archipelago area is stillwater fishing, that is why it is not good to cut the hackle short like in the original Stimulators for running water fishing. Tie the bodyhackle with short herl feather and leave the living tips uncut, this means more action on the fly. More action means more fishes which get interested in Your fly.

Springtime the fishes are in shallow water, so use floating or intermediate lines. Use polyleaders from sinking to extra fast sinking to get the fly deeper.

Tie at the end of the shank a small ball with peacock herl. Tie the tail with two goose biots in v-form.

If You want to weight the fly, use lead wire.

If You want to lighten the fly, use foam as underbody

Fasten the copper wire. Fasten 5 to 8 peacock herls in front of the hook.

Tie a nice body in form like a cigar.

Fasten the hackle in the front, tie a palmered hackle and fasten it with the wire crossing each other
