Enjoy
Your Summerfishing
Light!
I want big fishes, fast and
many, is often the main pursuit of many fishers. That is why pikefishers
make their trips in springtime and autumntime. I have decided to avoid
fishing pikes just before and during their spawning. Of course I have to
fish them while working as fishing guide, but anyway I avoid fishing pikes
as much as possible, when they have their weddings. You can enjoy
pikefishing even in the middle of summer. Lighten your equipments in UL
class or near it, then the fishing is fun. You can flyfish pikes in
summertime with 4-6 class rods. When you open a summerpike, you find
normally in its stomach a lot of small, one to two inches, silvery fishes.
When you fish small flies like Super Tinsel in size 8-12, it is easy to
cast and serve the fly correcly to the right places. With light equipments
even a pike in two kilos size gives enjoyable tiring moments. The
fishbiologists say, that pikes in sizes 2-8 kilos, are the best breeders,
so they should be saved. In my opinion the best tasting pikes weight 1-2
kilos. Try boneless pikefiles in cream-horseraddish sauce!!!
The
second fun thing to do in fishing in summertime is angling. Even looking a
red and white float to move on the waves is relaxing like yoga. When you
are fishing, forget all the haste. Genial summerfishing is baitfishing.
First you have to catch the baits. You need a rod, a float 2-3 g and a
small 16-20 size hook in the leader. With maggots or pieces of worms you
can catch bleaks to fill your baitfishbucket. Next step is to change
these small products into bigger predators. Pikes, perches and zanders
love living bleakbaits. You can serve the baits with either bottomangling
with leadweights or with sliding floats to middle waters.
Do not forget roaches and its relatives. Fried roachfile is a gourmee
level delicacy, and in summer its easy to prepare them for instance in
wokpan on open fire.
Appreciate
your catch. Learn how to handle your fishes correctly. The climax of a
fishing trip is a nice fishmeal on your plate made of your own catch!
