June
and July are the hottest time in zanderfishing. There is no reason, why a
flyfisherman should leave all the delicious zander-filees for rod and reel
fishermen. Flyfisherman's zander-tools are in class 6-8. As flyline use
either floating line with fast sinking leader or sinking line. With both
you reach the bottom in 2-3 meters depth, where the zanders are hiding.
The best zanderflies have been variations of Supertinsel, Tie different
colors in size 5 to 10 cm. Important is to tie the fly upside down, this
prevents too many mother earth contacts. The hooks I have used are worm
hooks ment to fished with worm jigs. The very good hook is VMC worm hook
sold with Storm wormjigs. It is light and sharp enough to hook hard
mouthed zanders.

Fasten
a bunch of flashabou like in the picture. The whole dressing is made in
front part of the hook.

Turn
to the front pointing flashabous backwards. Add some hairs or SLF Hanks on
the wing.

Tie
a collar to the fly of fox hairs, if you are fishing in salty water, and
of marabou, if you are fishing in sweet water. Fox is more living in salty
water as marabou, which is sticky in seawater
Dressing:
Hook:
Worm #4-2/0
Wing:
Flashabou and Hanks or hairs
Collar:
Fox for seaflies and marabou for
lakeflies
