The Fly of October
Hot Ass
Text and photos: SFM-toimitus
Dressing: SFM-toimitus
In
the late 90's flyfishermen used to fish a lot in River Merikarvia with Red Tag March
Brown larva, which had the tail dressed of red wool yarn, body of
hare's ear and the head of peacock herls. Jani developped first of this
fly a Leech model, size 8-10 RTMB. Finally the fly got the hot pink
tail, The Hot ass was born. With this fly jani has made good results in
both fun fishing and in Finnish Championships in Flyfishing.
The
best way to fish with Hot Ass is upstreams and almost with pure
larvatechiques. Weighting the fly is important, too. More or less lead is
tied on the front of the hookshank depending how high is the water level.

Tie
the tail of hot pink marabou. Tie the leadwire so much as you suppose the
waterlevel needs.

the body of hare's ear or squirrel hairs. You can dress the ribbing of
gold wire, but it is not necessary.
